.  The hamster is used but in very good condition.  It is shipped without any batteries.  When placing the batteries you must screw the bottom to where the bottom comes off.  Make sure the batteries are new.  I inspect each hamster to make sure it makes noises and runs.  Do not use on carpet as it does not run well.  Children under 4 years old should not really have these as a toy.  There are small parts and if the child has long hair they should keep their hair away from the hamster as it can get caught in the wheels. Children should not sleep with their hamster in case they accidentally push the start button on the hamster's back.  Pets should not be given these as toys as they do contain small parts and batteries.  If you have a problem with the hamster running or making noises, first make sure the batteries are good and in place.  If this is okay and it still does not run, there are a variety of YouTube videos on how to fix the pet.  In fact, if you have any questions about your hamster check YouTube as they have dozens of videos on all aspects of owning a Zhu Zhu pet.
